Origin and Development
In 2016, the Ministry of National Defense launched the “Xiang Medical Project” to modernize healthcare for military and public. It funds new hospital buildings to expand space, replace outdated facilities, and improve quality and competitiveness. Songshan’s new building is complete, while Taoyuan, Taichung, Tri-Service General Hospital, Keelung, and Kaohsiung projects are approved.
Development
Our hospital relocated to its current site over 40 years ago (since 1980). To establish a next-generation smart hospital with a patient-friendly environment, the “New Medical Building Project” was initiated in 2019, utilizing the emergency parking lot and reassigned military housing land. However, due to rising construction material costs, labor shortages, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the original budget was insufficient. After four failed tenders, the strategy was revised to “increase the budget.” In August 2021, the Executive Yuan approved raising the budget to NT$ 2.42 billion, extending completion to 2026, with an early target of 2025.
