Division of Psychiatry
The psychiatric ward was officially completed and opened for use in May 1993. It is located on the first, second, and fourth floors of the hospital’s main building. The first and second floors house 59 beds for male acute patients, while the fourth floor contains 28 beds for female acute patients, as well as offices and meeting rooms. The total construction area is 4,829.04 square meters.
The ward includes protective rooms, consultation rooms, a psychological testing room, and an early intervention assessment room. The “M”-shaped building faces the Dakeng Mountains, offering excellent visibility, lighting, and ventilation. A spacious central garden provides patients with space for activities and relaxation.
The Zhongqing campus operates as a chronic psychiatric ward with 50 beds, located in a peaceful area of central Taichung. It also provides psychosomatic medicine outpatient services and child and adolescent psychological counseling.
The department collaborates with various government agencies to address sexual assault, domestic violence, suicide prevention, and psychiatric treatment. It also operates as the Taichung City Drug Harm Prevention Center for addiction treatment and alternative therapy programs, as well as a Department of Health-designated facility for compulsory psychiatric hospitalization and assessment.
