Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery
In our department, we have two attending physicians who provide consultations. In addition to their specialization in various anal and rectal disorders, our attending physicians have received comprehensive training from esteemed medical centers, including Taipei Veterans General Hospital and Taichung Veterans General Hospital. They are well-equipped to offer thorough colorectal cancer screening and treatment, delivering medical care that is comparable to that of a medical center for the residents of East Taichung.
Services Offered:
- Screening for colorectal cancer, including definitive diagnosis and minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy), as well as surgical treatment options for low rectal cancer.
- Symptoms may include anal bleeding, swelling, abscesses, fistulas, and incontinence.
- Precise and minimally invasive hemorrhoid surgery utilizing laser and coagulation knife techniques.
- Constipation and Indigestion
- Conditions that affect the buttocks include hidradenitis suppurativa, cysts, and pilonidal disease.
- Diagnosis and treatment of various disorders affecting the colon and anus, along with the management of trauma.
- Endoscopic removal of colon polyps and early-stage cancers.
- Rectal Prolapse and Anal Warts
- Nutritional Consultation for the Gastrointestinal System
- Functional Intravenous Nutrition
Specialized Medical Care:
Each attending physician is a member of our hospital’s nutritional medical team, which not only provides essential nutritional management before and after surgery but also offers a variety of functional intravenous nutritional therapies to support areas where clinical drug treatment may be inadequate. Team members regularly participate in both domestic and international seminars on laparoscopic surgery and chemotherapy, enabling us to deliver comprehensive colorectal cancer screening and follow-up treatment for the residents of East Taichung.
The hemorrhoidectomy techniques employed at our hospital minimize postoperative pain, enabling patients to return to their normal activities and work shortly after discharge. We also utilize the latest tissue coagulation device, Ligasure, for hemorrhoid surgery and have recently introduced a new bipolar laser for precise and versatile treatment of hemorrhoids and fistulas.
Our department boasts a success rate exceeding 90% for laparoscopic minimally invasive colorectal surgeries. We have also implemented a 3D laparoscopic imaging system that offers a clearer, three-dimensional view during procedures. This advancement facilitates the complete removal of tumors and lymph nodes while preserving critical nerves and blood vessels, significantly enhancing the safety and precision of the surgery. Additionally, we have adopted single-port laparoscopy, also known as transanal minimally invasive surgery, which greatly reduces discomfort associated with colorectal cancer surgery and shortens hospital stays.
Future Outlook:
Our physicians actively engage in a range of academic activities and pursue ongoing education, consistently updating treatment guidelines and techniques related to colorectal cancer. Additionally, we are planning overseas training programs to integrate the latest concepts from both domestic and international medical centers, with the goal of providing high-quality medical care.
