Emergency Department

The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital has been assessed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as an intermediate emergency responsibility hospital in Taiwan. Internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, dentistry, Obstetrics and Gynecology and psychiatric medicine are supported by attending physicians. A number of ACLS training courses have also been organized to help train emergency personnel in Taiping. The percentage of emergent cardiac catheterization within 90 minutes for acute coronary heart disease has reached more than 90%.

We equipped with 18 observation beds and an independent resuscitation room to handle critical patients. Besides, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment equipment, providing blood draw and X-ray examination, computerized tomography, emergency ultrasound, influenza screen, new coronavirus(COVID-19) screen, and emergent NG tube/Foley catheter/tracheostomy replacement , wound care, emergency medical care, hospitalization services.

All staff members of the Emergency Department of Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital have become the guardians of soldier and civilian health. They use their professional knowledge and skills to assist the community in solving health and medical problems, and provide the highest quality emergency services to the people in Taiping and neighborhood. .

Emergency services
The hospital provides all-day emergency services. There are four emergency physicians responsible for consultations every day, and there is also complete sub-specialist consultation system.

  • Emergency treatment of internal medicine, surgery, orthopedic, pediatric, dentistry, and psychiatric departments.
  • Emergency ultrasound, computerized tomography, and electrocardiogram.
  • Arrange emergency surgery.
  • Quick screen for new coronary pneumonia and influenza.
  • Emergency blood transfusion service.
  • Arrange for kidney imaging examination (Retrograde pyelography) and gastroscopy.
  • Assist patients with acute coronary heart disease to arrange cardiac catheterization.
  • Evaluation of patients with acute stroke to thrombolytic therapy.
  • Activate a trauma team to deal with major trauma.
  • According to the needs of the disease, arrange hospitalization as soon as possible.
