Blood Bank
This department was initially established in the 52nd year of the Republic of China (1963) and was originally named the Blood Bank Group of Army 8302, operating under the Army Headquarters. In the 84th year of the Republic of China (1995), it was reorganized and reassigned to the Blood Bank Group of the Taichung General Hospital of the National Armed Forces (formerly known as Armed Forces 803 Hospital). On July 1, 2005, it was renamed the Blood Bank Room in accordance with a directive from the Ministry of National Defense.
The primary mission of this department is to conduct blood donation operations for the military in the central region and to provide blood transfusion services for all military and civilian patients in the hospital. Since February 2001, when military personnel were integrated into the National Health Insurance program, medical blood supplies have been consistently provided by the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation. This initiative has further ensured the quality and safety of blood sources, thereby delivering a reliable blood supply service for clinical physicians and recipients.
