Medical Library
Mission of the Medical Library
Our hospital’s library is a specialized medical library that is administratively affiliated with the Medical Affairs Division. It operates under the guidance of the Medical Education Committee and the Teaching and Research Group, collaborating with the Joint Library of Military Hospitals to collect and manage medical literature and information. The library serves the clinical, teaching, and research needs of professionals across various medical departments within the hospital and supports the informational needs of military medical officers and soldiers in operational areas. In line with the spirit of nationwide interlibrary cooperation, the library also provides access to medical, nursing, pharmacy, and health professionals from outside the hospital, including faculty and students from related academic institutions.
The library’s physical collection comprises over 10,000 books, more than 30 current periodicals, and nearly 400 medical journals in both Chinese and English, preserved for several decades. This collection includes over 8,800 bound volumes and more than 26,000 individual volumes, along with 578 audiovisual materials. The electronic resources, in conjunction with the “Joint Library of Military Hospitals” system, feature over 70 databases, more than 18,000 electronic journals, and over 41,000 electronic books. While the collection primarily focuses on medical professional information, it also offers resources for English language learning, leisure, knowledge, and current affairs. The library collaborates with and supports other military hospital libraries and is backed by the Information and Library Center of the National Defense Medical Center, ensuring access to medical center-level resources that meet the evolving needs of our users.
