Medical Library
Our hospital’s library is a specialized medical library. It is administered by the Department of Medical Services. Guided by the Medical Education Committee and the Teaching and Research Office, it collaborates with the Digital Library Alliance of National Military Hospitals to collect and manage medical library resources. These resources support the clinical, teaching and research activities of staff in various medical departments, as well as provide professional medical information to military medical officers and soldiers in combat zones. In accordance with the principles of the Interlibrary Cooperation Association, the library provides information for medical, nursing, pharmaceutical, and health professionals from outside the hospital (including teachers and students from related colleges and universities) to use on-site.
The library’s physical collection comprises more than 11,000 books, over 32 current periodicals and almost 400 Chinese and English medical journals. The periodicals and journals comprise more than 8,800 bound volumes and over 27,000 single volumes, dating back to 1951. The library also has 594 audio-visual materials. The operation of electronic resources is conducted in conjunction with the Digital Library Alliance of National Military Hospitals. This alliance provides a collection of over 70 databases, in excess of 19,000 electronic journals, and a total of more than 43,000 electronic books. The resources in question primarily comprise medical professional information, with additional thematic resources such as English language learning, leisure activities, knowledge and current public affairs. The library has established collaborative relationships with other National Military Hospital libraries, facilitating the exchange of resources and support. It is supported by the National Defense Medical College Library, which provides access to medical centre-level library resources, thus supporting the needs of the library’s users.
