Overview

The skin is the largest organ of the human body

and contains highly specialized appendages, including hair, nails, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands. It is composed of several layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous layer, along with blood vessels and nerves. As a result, the skin can undergo a wide range of physiological and pathological changes. Our specialized physicians are equipped to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.

Our department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, including eczema, dyshidrotic eczema, urticaria, pruritus (itching), contact dermatitis, drug rashes, athlete’s foot, tinea versicolor, onychomycosis, paronychia, groin pruritus, tinea corporis, folliculitis, impetigo, cellulitis, erysipelas, viral warts, chickenpox, herpes zoster, and insect bites, among others.

Service Items:

  • General skin diseases encompass eczema, urticaria, fungal infections, herpes, scabies, warts, boils, keratosis, ichthyosis, dyshidrotic eczema, and a variety of other allergic, infectious, or metabolic conditions.
  • Skin Tumors: Diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant tumors, including lipomas, sebaceous cysts, fibromas, hemangiomas, and skin cancer, as well as pathological biopsy examinations.
  • Aesthetic Medicine: acne, freckles, melasma, pigmented nevi, age spots, and more.

Future Outlook:

The goal of Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital is to become the premier choice for military and civilian medical care in the Taiping area. The dermatology department aims not only to expand its general service operations but also to strengthen communication and collaboration with local physicians and other hospitals. This initiative will transform the department into a referral center for complex dermatological cases and establish a comprehensive medical network. Additionally, we will align with hospital policies to enhance interactions with local healthcare providers by offering continuing education courses and opportunities for academic discussions.
