Division of Pulmonary / Chest Medicine
Overview
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine is a component of the Internal Medicine Division, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic diseases and conditions associated with critical care. Currently, the department is led by a head physician and supported by four attending physicians, two of whom possess a specialist license in critical care medicine in addition to their expertise in pulmonary medicine.
This department was established following the hospital’s relocation to the Taiping area and has been operational for several decades. Thanks to the efforts of our predecessors, advancements in the field, and educational collaborations with major medical centers, we have trained numerous professionals in pulmonary medicine. Our team possesses extensive expertise in various thoracic diseases, including thoracic tumors, acute and chronic respiratory failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, infectious lung diseases, asthma, and more. We have also made significant investments in equipment and diagnostic techniques, continually striving to enhance our capabilities. As a result, today’s Department of Pulmonary Medicine not only meets the diagnostic and care standards of domestic medical centers but also keeps pace with technological advancements to provide superior medical care for the residents of East Taichung.

Future Outlook
Our hospital currently offers a comprehensive pulmonary medicine program. In addition to traditional care for thoracic diseases, we provide extensive services in respiratory therapy, lung cancer treatment, and critical care medicine.
In the future, we aim to enhance community healthcare, smoking cessation services, and early lung cancer screening. Our goal is to shift from merely “treating diseases” to prioritizing “preventive healthcare.” We are committed to delivering the highest quality of service to the residents of East Taichung while aligning our initiatives with the latest trends in global healthcare.
