What Is “Alcohol Addiction”?

1. Patients with alcohol addiction are prone to alcohol poisoning. Severe cases can lead to confusion, lowered body temperature, slow heart rate and breathing, generalized weakness, and in extreme cases, coma, shock, or even death.
2. Common problems among alcohol addiction patients include: estranged interpersonal relationships, impaired work performance, disrupted family harmony, traffic accidents, violent behavior, crime, self-harm and suicide.
3. Long-term alcohol consumption severely damages physical health, causing issues such as brain damage (including brain atrophy, dementia, accelerated aging), alcoholic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, pancreatitis, gastritis, gastric ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, and heart failure.
4. During the early stages of alcohol withdrawal, patients may experience various discomforts. Please inform healthcare staff immediately. With the support of medical teams through medication, cognitive therapy, psychological treatment, and family assistance, patients can successfully overcome the challenges of quitting alcohol.
5. It is encouraged to find suitable outlets for stress relief, such as reading, listening to music, talking to friends, exercising, or taking baths.
