Visit to Taichung Blood Donation Center.
Date:2025-10-21Recently, our hospital—led by Superintendent Shih, accompanied by Deputy Superintendent Tsai and the Director of the Planning and Management Office—visited the Taichung Blood Center for an on-site study tour.
The primary purpose of the visit was not only to understand the operational procedures of the blood center but also to conduct preliminary planning for the establishment of our hospital’s own blood donation station next year, as part of efforts to strengthen blood supply preparedness during both peacetime and wartime.
During the visit, Director Lin of the Taichung Blood Center, together with section chiefs and team leaders, gave a detailed introduction to the entire process of blood management—from collection, testing, and separation to storage, supply, and distribution. The visit provided our delegation with a deeper understanding of blood safety and quality control. The center’s rigorous quality assurance and highly efficient operations left a strong impression on all participants, offering valuable insights and experience.
In addition, both parties engaged in discussions on how medical institutions can actively build blood reserves in peacetime and rapidly mobilize blood resources in wartime. The blood center shared its practical experience in areas such as manpower allocation, facility planning, regulatory compliance, and emergency response measures—providing essential reference and strategies for our hospital’s future blood station planning.
This visit not only enhanced our understanding of the national blood supply system but also reinforced our awareness of wartime blood preparedness. Looking ahead, our hospital will actively plan for the establishment of a blood donation station, integrating internal medical resources to strengthen the flexibility and capacity of blood supply under both peacetime and wartime conditions. Upholding the spirit of “One bag of blood, one life saved,” we remain committed to safeguarding the health of military personnel and the general public.
