Prehospital Emergency Care and In-Hospital Medical Teams Join Forces to Reach New Milestones in Emergency Healthcare.
Date:2026-06-05To continuously improve the quality of pre-hospital emergency care and the effectiveness of critical care, our hospital hosted the ‘Taichung City Council’s 3rd Fire Rescue and EMS Brigade Department Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care Case Exchange Meeting’ on 4 June. The event brought together EMS personnel from the brigade’s affiliated units, along with medical teams from our Emergency Department, alongside medical teams from our hospital’s A&E and Cardiology departments. Through case sharing and two-way dialogue, the meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between pre-hospital and in-hospital care systems.
During the meeting, Major General Shih Yu-lung, the hospital’s Director, personally welcomed Brigade Commander Jen-Chieh Chan of the 3rd Rescue and EMS Brigade. Under the coordination of Dr. Tsung-Han Tsai, Director of Emergency Medicine, several real-life emergency cases were presented for discussion. Participants exchanged insights on on-scene assessment, emergency interventions, patient transportation procedures, and subsequent medical treatment. These interdisciplinary discussions helped enhance the response capabilities of emergency teams and improve the quality of patient care.
A successful acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) rescue case was also highlighted during the event. Mr. Lee, the patient who survived the incident, attended the press conference in person to witness the life-saving collaboration between EMS personnel and healthcare professionals. His presence underscored the importance of seamless integration between prehospital emergency response and hospital-based medical care.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the Critical Care Medical Building, where participants visited facilities including the Burn Center, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and Emergency Department. The tour provided EMS personnel with a deeper understanding of the treatment process after patients arrive at the hospital, further strengthening mutual cooperation and teamwork.
Through this exchange meeting, professional collaboration between fire and medical services was further enhanced, demonstrating our shared commitment to protecting the lives and safety of the public. Moving forward, our hospital will continue working closely with our EMS partners to strengthen emergency medical capabilities and provide more timely and comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
