Major General Shih, Yu-Lung, Superintendent of Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital, is currently featured in the United Daily News “President’s Forum” interview series, where he shares insights and reflections from more than 30 years of military medical service.

Since assuming the position of Superintendent in August 2024, Major General Shih has actively led the hospital’s transformation initiatives. Following the inauguration of the newly constructed Emergency and Critical Care Building, developed with an investment of NT$2.4 billion, he has promoted a “walking management” approach by engaging directly with frontline staff and patients, listening to their needs, strengthening team cohesion and employee well-being.

Guided by his personal philosophy of “Professional responsibility, Humble learning and Empathetic thinking,” Major General Shih continues to advance the hospital through three key strategic pillars “Military-civilian Integration, Smart Healthcare and Sustainable ESG Development”. He has further strengthened epidemic prevention and emergency response capabilities while promoting green hospital practices and energy conservation, comprehensively enhancing healthcare quality and operational efficiency.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Major General Shih also emphasizes physical and mental well-being. He advocates regular exercise, balanced nutrition, emotional management and a positive lifestyle, demonstrating the qualities of an exemplary healthcare leader.

Looking ahead, he will continue leading the team toward becoming a “High-Level Emergency and Critical Care Responsibility Hospital,” safeguarding the health of both military personnel and civilians while building a more resilient healthcare system.
