Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital

On the 30th, our hospital held the inauguration ceremony for the Emergency and Critical Care Building, presided over by General Chung, Deputy Minister (Armaments) of the Ministry of National Defense. Distinguished attendees included the Navy Deputy Chief of the General Staff, the Director General of the Military Medical Bureau, the Commander of the Fifth Theater of Operations, superintendents of affiliated military hospitals, commanding officers of units under the Fifth Theater of Operations, and members of the hospital leadership team—together witnessing a significant milestone in military medical development in central Taiwan.

Deputy Minister Chung stated, “The inauguration of the Emergency and Critical Care Building not only signifies a comprehensive upgrade of the hospital’s infrastructure, but also represents a major achievement in the Ministry of National Defense’s ongoing efforts to modernize the military medical system, strengthen integrated military-civilian healthcare and enhance medical defense resilience.”

Superintendent Shih remarked, “Since its establishment in 1980, our hospital has been deeply rooted in central Taiwan for over four decades. In response to the growing demand for emergency and critical care services and the advancement of smart healthcare, we launched this new construction project in 2019. Centered on holistic patient care, the new building integrates smart technologies and green building design to optimize clinical workflow, enhance efficiency and improve patient safety—creating a environment with patient-friendly and resilient healthcare.”

Moving forward, the hospital will continue to strengthen its emergency and critical care response capabilities and steadily advance toward its goal of becoming a designated Severe Emergency Responsibility Hospital, safeguarding the lives and health of service members and civilians alike, and serving as the most trusted medical backbone in central Taiwan.
