Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital

Taichung, Taiwan — On August 27, Deputy Minister Lt. Gen. Huang inspected a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) casualty rescue drill at Taichung Armed Forces General Hospital. The exercise was jointly observed by senior leaders from the military, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Environmental Protection Administration, National Fire Agency, and Taichung City government.

The drill simulated an emergency room receiving notification of a toxic chemical incident, triggering a full emergency response. Procedures included establishing triage, decontamination, and medical treatment zones. Medical personnel, equipped with protective gear, carried out triage, decontamination, and graded medical care operations. The exercise concluded successfully within 40 minutes.

Deputy Minister Huang noted that the hospital’s newly constructed medical building is equipped with decontamination areas, shower facilities, and isolation wards, setting a benchmark for other military medical facilities in future planning.

Following the drill, Lt. Gen. Huang presented special meal allowances to the participating units, expressing gratitude for their dedication and professionalism.
