Preliminary summary

Healthcare is a profession that demands rigorous scientific knowledge, an art imbued with warmth and compassion, and a deeply human-centered commitment practiced throughout a lifetime. Since its establishment, Tri-Service General Hospital Taichung has steadfastly upheld its founding mission of “wholehearted dedication, holistic care, and promoting the health of military personnel and civilians.” For decades, it has been deeply rooted in the central region, safeguarding the lives and health of a broad military and civilian population. While continuously advancing medical technology, optimizing clinical services, and pursuing breakthroughs in medical quality, we have never forgotten the social responsibility and mission entrusted to us as a public medical institution.

The year 2025 is exceptionally significant for our hospital, as it marks the official start of our sustainable development journey. Today, we are proud to publish our first dedicated Sustainability Report. This report is not only a proactive response to the global emphasis on environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG) but also a solemn, long-term commitment to our patients, staff, partners, local residents, and all stakeholders.

This report provides a truthful and comprehensive review of the efforts, practices, and phased achievements across five core dimensions: performance management, social participation, medical excellence, environmental sustainability, and a happy workplace. Every piece of data and every story reflects the collective hard work of all our colleagues working together with one heart.

In our view, the sustainable development of a medical institution is not merely an empty slogan but a commitment to concrete action.
The long-term foundation of a hospital depends on a robust and comprehensive governance system, coupled with an open and transparent operational model—this forms the basis for all development. The essence of medical service lies in consistently maintaining a patient-centered approach, rigorously upholding the highest standards of medical safety, and treating every patient with professionalism and compassion. For an organization to thrive and grow sustainably, it must respect, protect, and nurture all employees while honoring and preserving the natural environment.

Climate change has become a global challenge that we all face. Our hospital actively supports the net-zero transition goal by vigorously implementing green building design principles and comprehensively promoting energy conservation, carbon reduction, resource recycling, and other environmental protection measures. We strive to create a low-carbon, environmentally friendly medical environment. At the same time, in response to the diverse needs of an aging society—such as long-term care and health services—we proactively extend our reach beyond the hospital into the community. We are building a broad, close-knit healthcare network that delivers preventive medicine, long-term care, and support services for vulnerable groups directly to the people.
From governance optimization to medical advancements, from environmental protection to employee well-being, and from community service to social welfare, we comprehensively plan sustainable initiatives, striving to integrate ESG principles into every aspect of hospital operations.

This Sustainability Report marks a new beginning on our journey toward sustainability and serves as a mirror for objective self-assessment. It documents our current achievements and clearly identifies the areas where ongoing effort is required in the future.

The road ahead is long, and we will persevere without faltering. In the future, our hospital will continue to uphold the core values of teamwork, professionalism, empathy, and innovation; deeply embed the concept of sustainable management into our organizational culture; and continuously improve medical services while advancing various sustainability initiatives.

We will hold ourselves to higher standards, embrace our responsibilities with greater enthusiasm, and strive to become the strongest support for protecting the health of military personnel and civilians in central Taiwan. At the same time, we will do our utmost to contribute the medical profession’s expertise to regional development, social progress, and environmental sustainability.
