CECC confirms 281more COVID-19 cases, including 216 domestic cases and 65 imported cases

On April 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 281 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 281 new cases, 216 are domestic and 65 are imported (28 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 216 new domestic cases, they are 100 men and 116 women ranging in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 14 and April 4, while 114 of them didn’t develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 91 were reported in New Taipei City, 33 in Keelung City, 28 in Taipei City, 13 in Hsinchu County, 11 in Taoyuan City, 10 each in Kaohsiung City and Hualien County, eight in Hsinchu City, five in Taichung City, three each in Yilan County and Changhua County, and one in Tainan City.

Regarding the 65 new imported cases, 32 are male and 32 are female while the gender of the other one case is being investigated. They range in age from under five to 79 years. Of them, six arrived from Indonesia, five from the US, four each from Vietnam and Thailand, two each from Japan, France, Korea and Hong Kong, and one each from Denmark, Singapore, Mexico, Germany, the UK and Australia; the areas the remaining 32 cases arrived from are under investigation. They all arrived between March 12 and April 4, 2022.

Additionally, the imported case (Case #24632) announced on April 4 has been reclassified as a domestic case according to an epidemiological investigation.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,144,956 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,119,959. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 24,866 cases. Of the 24,866 confirmed cases, 8,148 are imported; 16,664 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases’ sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 139 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
